Thank you for your story about the “she shed’’ (“A place of her own? Enter the ‘she shed,’ ’’ Page A1, Aug. 9). A couple of years ago my husband and I went to see the movie “August: Osage County.’’ Near the end of the movie, the sisters are sitting in a screened-in small square structure. It’s evening, and they are sharing a bottle of wine by candlelight. The conversation was contentious but, to me, that didn’t matter. I said to my husband, “I’d love to have a getaway like that.’’
Within days he’d drawn up the design for “my place,’’ and within weeks it was a finished structure with knee-walls and screening. We have no wiring or fan, just six chairs, some tables, and lots of candles. It’s a perfect sanctuary for me, for us.
