Finding the spirit of youth in Shakespeare
Re “A new stage for retirees — battling with the Bard’’ (Page A1, Aug 15): I have had the privilege over the past 17 years, from its founding, to introduce and sometimes act in the Frances Addelson Shakespeare Players productions at the Harvard Institute of Learning in Retirement. The performances have grown from a series of short scenes and monologues to full-length plays, with fine costumes and sets. All associated with the productions become youths again as physical and cognitive issues recede for those very precious times.
