Theo reversed 2 curses. So what’s next?

Now that he’s helped the Chicago Cubs win their first World Series in 108 years, and the Red Sox their first in 86 years, what seemingly impossible task should Theo Epstein tackle next? US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power has an idea. After the Cubs beat the Indians to end their World Series drought, Power tweeted this: “Hey Theo Epstein, since you can turn literally anything around, any chance you’d care to take on a world crisis or two in the off season?’’

Though Epstein’s a smart, politically engaged guy, we’re guessing he’d rather negotiate long-term contracts than short-term peace agreements. Power knows a thing or two about reinvention. Before she was a diplomat, she was a war correspondent — contributing pieces to the Globe, among other outlets — and then a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and then an academic at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
