A FRENCH TWIST Pianist Lise de la Salle performs in the Rockport Chamber Music Festival Saturday, June 18.
Since winning first prize at the 2004 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, de la Salle, 26, has built an international career performing in the concert halls of Europe, the United States, and Asia. She’s also played with prestigious orchestras and their conductors around the world.
In 2003, her first CD of Ravel and Rachmaninov was acclaimed by critics. She since has released several more recordings, including an award-winning Liszt CD.
A pre-concert talk by William Matthews, a composer and music professor at Bates College, at 7 p.m. is free to all ticket-holders. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Shalin Liu Performance Center, 37 Main St.

TAKING IT TO THE STREETArts Fest Beverly,a free outdoor family festival, is to be held Saturday, June 18.
Cabot Street is transformed with the gathering of more than 150 juried fine artists and crafters, along with music and entertainment, kids’ activities, art-on-the-spot creations, and a food court.
This year, Arts Fest is expanding to include another block to make room for more artists. Cabot Street will be closed from Judson to Bow streets during the event, which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival goes on rain or shine.

LOVE STORIES “Love-Locks,’’ an exhibit that Newburyport gallery owner Paula Estey describes as “showcasing the push and pull of love from soft underbelly to razor’s edge,’’ is on display through July 23.
The show represents “a cohesive blending of artistic medium, personality, and message,’’ Estey said, adding that all the artists are professionals with national reach.
Artists include Jennifer Costello, Miranda Updike, Kate Sullivan, Jessica Hachmeister, and, new to the gallery, David Stone, Regina Valluzzi, Pat Forbes, and Joanne Tarlin.

RECYCLED CHARACTERS Martha Dana, a local storyteller and puppeteer for more than 30 years, has always created and handcrafted her life-like characters.
Her assemblages currently on display at the are a continuation of her fascination with character and invented narrative.
Dana’s recent work is made out of recycled materials gathered from forests, beaches, dumpsters, used building materials, and auto parts.

NEW WORKS Black Box Lab at Stage 284in Hamilton presents a staged reading of “The Divine: A Play for Sarah Bernhardt,’’ Sunday, June 12.
The fable, written by Marc Bouchard, is based on Bernhardt’s visit to Quebec in 1905 and is about the meeting of the mythical actress and a young man.
The show features Boston area professional and regional actors. Lee Mikeska Gardner is featured in the lead role. Director is Myriam Cyr.
The mission of Black Box Lab is to foster new works and little-known classics from around the world to entertain, enrich, and educate the community.
