Iginla’s 2 goals lift Avalanche
Associated Press

Jarome Iginla scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 2:03 remaining, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2, on Wednesday night in Denver.

Iginla nearly had another goal in the second period, but it was waved off for goaltender interference. He has 17 goals this season to push his career total to 606.

The winner was set up when Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban fell down near the blue line. On an odd-man rush, Matt Duchene sent a pass over Mikhail Grigorenko, who then found a wide-open Iginla in front of the net.

Erik Johnson added a shorthanded goal for the Avalanche, who picked up a needed home win. They’re 1-3-1 at the Pepsi Center over their last five games.

Andrei Markov and Lars Eller scored for the Canadiens, who finished winless on a three-game trip.

Blackhawks 5, Rangers 3 — Rookie sensation Artemi Panarin scored his first hat trick and Chicago rallied to beat New York.

Andrew Desjardins and Andrew Shaw also scored and Corey Crawford made 31 saves to help the Blackhawks hand New York its first regulation loss at home in 11 games (8-1-2).

The Blackhawks, who scored a season-high four power-play goals Monday, got three more against New York.

The game marked the return of Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh after missing four games because of a concussion.
