Investigative reporter and author Hank Phillippi Ryan will celebrate the release of her newest novel, “Say No More’’ at the Brookline Booksmith on Nov. 1. This book is her ninth thriller, and tells the story of a journalist named Jane Ryland, her homicide detective boyfriend, and “a sinister scheme behind closed doors at a prestigious Boston college.’’

In other book news, Zadie Smith will be coming to Cambridge to talk about her latest novel, “Swing Time.’’ She’ll be joined by Christopher Lydon of “Radio Open Source’’ for the discussion, which will take place Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at the First Parish Church at 1446 Mass. Ave. Tickets can be purchased through the Harvard Book Store for $28, which includes the cost of admission and a copy of the book.
Another literary event on our radar is “An Evening With the Harvard Lampoon’’ on Nov. 29. Harvard Lampoon alumni contributors Glenn McDonald and Stuart Pizer, current Lampoon contributor Rachel Stromberg, and current president Mark Steinbach will be at the Harvard Book Store to discuss “The Best of the Harvard Lampoon: 140 Years of American Humor,’’ the first anthology of The Lampoon’s archives, featuring humorous pieces by John Updike, Conan O’Brien, B.J.
