It is one thing to responsibly report all sides of a story. It is quite another to join with the national Republican Party and engage in forgetfulness along the lines of an Orwellian Ministry of Truth (“The mouth that roars can also charm,’’ Page A1, May 15). The last year has seen not just misogynistic or simply offensive comments from Trump. Let facts be remembered by a candid world:
He mocked a disabled reporter (though he swears he didn’t).
He offered to pay the legal fees for supporters engaging in political violence.
When questioned about an assault of a Boston homeless person by people who cited his campaign, his response was mostly about the passion of his followers.
But to be fair, while he said he hates journalists, he also said he would never kill them. Is that proof of his softer side?
What politician doesn’t have a so-called softer side? There are movies of Hitler enjoying time with children. And years ago I came across a Russian children’s book titled “Lenin’s Smile.’’
