Sophomore attack Sean Fagen found the back of the net seven times and set up three other scores to power the North Reading boys’ lacrosse team to a 13-5 Cape Ann Baker victory over host Lynnfield on Friday afternoon.
The Hornets (4-1) locked up the win with a six-goal run in the second half, bouncing back from an 11-10 loss to Triton on Tuesday afternoon.
“He works harder than anyone on the team in terms of getting his skills better,’’ North Reading coach Chuck Campobasso said of Fagen.
“A lot of wall ball and offseason workouts. For some of these kids, it’s a part-time thing. For him, it’s all year long.’’
Michael Sheridan and Kevin Murphy scored two goals apiece for North Reading.
“We did a good job as an offense against their zone,’’ Fagen said. “This was a team we lost to twice last year, it was important to not let them hold the ball.’’
The Pioneers (3-2) struggled to clear the ball and pick up ground balls.
“Since we aren’t as skilled as teams we’re going to see, hustle is something we can control,’’ said Campobasso.
“Some days other teams are tougher and stronger, some days we come out on top.’’
