I thought it must have been a typo when I saw that West Station is now put off until 2040 (“Transit station delayed for Mass. Pike project,’’ Business, Dec. 2). Who in the world is going to make real plans around something that is going to be complete in 23 years? If I were Jeff Bezos and learned of that delay, I’d reject Boston’s bid for Amazon outright.

Is this really the best we can do? It is a slam-dunk to put a light rail system between Allston and Cambridge. The tracks already exist. If this were any city in Europe or Asia, it would have been done, like, yesterday.
