Brewers add third baseman Moustakas from Royals

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired third baseman Mike Moustakas from the Kansas City Royals, making their second deal in three days as the club makes a push for its first playoff appearance since 2011. The Brewers sent outfielder Brett Phillips and pitcher Jorge Lopez to the Royals. The Brewers acquired reliever Joakim Soria on Thursday.

Seahawks extend LT Brown

The Seattle Seahawks and left tackle Duane Brown reached agreement on a three-year contract extension. The team was proactive in trying to make sure Brown finishes his career in Seattle. The Seahawks seem to be inching closer to a future separation with Earl Thomas based on his holdout decision . . . Browns coach Hue Jackson continues to have the ‘‘unwavering’’ support of owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, who believe his third year will bring out the best in him — and the Browns . . . Sam Darnold is sitting out a second day of practice at Jets camp because of a contract impasse . . . Jets running back Eli McGuire has a broken foot that likely will sideline him several weeks.

Whyte closer to title fight

Dillian Whyte moved closer to a dream shot at the world heavyweight title after dramatically securing a career-best victory over Joseph Parker at London. Whyte accepted the risky fight in an attempt to force a rematch with Anthony Joshua or a challenge at WBC champion Deontay Wilder. The British brawler may never be a more worthy challenger following his unanimous decision win in which he barely made the final bell. A heavy knockdown in the final round and his exhaustion left him struggling to defend himself against former WBO champion Parker.

Suarez pole winner at Pocono

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch shared laughs side-by-side on a podium only days after they tangled on a bump-and-run on the track. The front row starters were connected again when their cars failed post-qualifying inspection and the times were disallowed. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Daniel Suarez was the pole winner at Pocono. He’s the first Mexican to win a pole in the Cup series.

The Boston Renegades dominated the Los Angeles Warriors, 42-18, to win the Women’s Football Alliance Division 1 Championship at Atlanta . . . In Major League Lacrosse, the Boston Cannons used a big second quarter to defeat the Charlotte Hounds, 14-7, at Harvard Stadium . . . The New York Rangers avoided arbitration with Brady Skjei, agreeing with the defenseman on a $31.5 million, six-year contract . . . Minnesota Lynx star Maya Moore won her third straight All-Star MVP award to lead Team Parker past Team Delle Donne, 119-112, in the WNBA All-Star Game at Minneapolis . . . Air Force defensive back Bradley Kim became the first openly gay football player to play for a military academy . . .
