THE WALLS

Caroline Morson, owner of the contemporary furniture store The Morson Collection on Atlantic Avenue, transformed an extra bedroom in a Ritz-Carlton Towers condo into a cozy den. “The goal was to make it completely different from the rest of the apartment, which is primarily white on white,’’ Morson said. The walls have three coats of Benjamin Moore’s “Vintage Wine’’ for maximum color depth.

THE SOFA

The Simplified Baby Bear sofa by Soane, upholstered in “Equestrian Claret’’ leather by Hancock & Moore and trimmed with antiqued-brass nailheads, was the room’s starting point. “The homeowner, a graduate student from overseas, had always wanted a classic red chesterfield,’’ Morson said.

THE ART

The client is an avid collector with lots of great pieces, including the cat-woman print and two oil paintings, all from Los Angeles galleries. Morson used Masterpiece Framing at Boston Design Center, choosing distinct frames that add interest and texture.

THE COFFEE TABLE

& THE BAR

The John-Richard table has textured stainless-steel legs, an antiqued mirror top and shelf, and faux crocodile-skin sides. Its taller-than-average height balances the attention-commanding sofa so that it does not overpower the room. The Phillips Collection Freeform faux bois console is made from a combination of wood and gilded resin. “It adds amusement to the room,’’ Morson said.
