Legislature throws cloak over democratic process

You stopped short in Friday’s editorial “Fix pot law, but not in a smoke-filled room.’’ Why did the Globe not call for a veto from Governor Baker? Wednesday’s lightning-quick vote, in both chambers of the Legislature, rejected the people’s will without a single legislator on the record. [Baker signed the measure into law on Friday.] As your editorial suggests, the issue is not one of support or objection to legalization of marijuana. Rather, it’s a matter of process and transparency in a democracy.
