Ideas about how to deal with unruly visitors, haphazard parking, and loose dogs at a popular walking area in Concord will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.
A hearing will be held by the Estabrook Woods Access Study Committee on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Town House to go over draft recommendations for the area and to get feedback from the public.
The committee was appointed by the Concord Select Board in April to consider and make recommendations about how the town should handle the demand for adequate and safe parking at access points to Estabrook Woods and complaints from neighbors about noise and dogs.
The committee held one hearing in June and has been meeting regularly to gather information and will present draft recommendations at its upcoming meeting.
Residents unable to attend the hearing can send written comments to estabrookcommittee@concordma.gov.
The Estabrook Woods is one of Concord’s largest natural areas, but most of the land is privately owned and voluntarily protected from development through deed restrictions.
Public access is permitted in some areas, subject to the terms of the restrictions.
Recent conflicts over parking, obstructions to driveways and public roadways, unruly visitors and/or animals, improperly disposed dog waste and litter, and conflicts between users led to the creation of the committee.
