In response to Shirley Leung’s commentary on Governor Baker (“Governor cannot go MIA on Trump forever,’’ Page A1, Jan. 24), I wish to applaud the governor for doing his job — that of leading the Commonwealth of Massachusetts — while staying above the ludicrous partisan antics of the past few months. Charlie Baker’s stance on President Trump has nothing to do with his responsibilities to the state.
Baker answers not to The Boston Globe or its writers but to the residents of the state. If he is doing a good job, which seems to be the case, then there should be nothing to complain about.
Unlike the pompous obstructionists who curry favor from the Globe, Baker seems more like a Harry Truman, interested in doing what is right and doing it well, and serving his constituency. I hope he continues on his path and to display his wisdom and has the strength and conviction in his purpose that we need in a leader.
