Red Sox chairman Tom Werner was on the Fenway field before Wednesday’s game to receive an award from US Navy Secretary Ray Mabus. On behalf of the Home Base program, Werner (right) accepted the Distinguished Public Service Award for “outstanding service of substantial and long-term benefit to the Navy and Marine Corps.’’ Home Base works to heal the invisible wounds — post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, military sexual trauma, and family relationship challenges — for post-9/11 veterans, service members, and their families.
