Where Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar

What A logo on the restaurant’s wall honoring Milford-based company Al Cass. Restaurateur Joe Cassinelli’s dad, Al, was a trumpeter and inventor. His company was (and remains) the go-to for wind musicians requiring custom accessories.

Whose Idea Joe Cassinelli surprised his mom, Vera, with the logo when she showed up for the restaurant’s soft opening. “This is the logo my dad designed back in the 1960s. It helps me tell staff my history,’’ he says. The company’s spokesperson was Dizzy Gillespie. “One day, I was unwrapping these big conga drums, and the phone rang. A raspy voice was on the other end, asking for my dad. I remember running to him, saying, ‘I think this guy is going to fall down!’,’’ Cassinelli recalls. It was his pal Gillespie, of course, whose trumpet is now in the Smithsonian with a custom Al Cass mouthpiece.
