Tufts women advance to title game
Lauren Dillon scored 19 points and Tufts scored the game’s first 14 points en route to a 63-50 win over Wartburg on Saturday to advance to the women’s NCAA Division 3 championship game in Columbus, Ohio.
Melissa Baptista and Michela North combined for 27 points and 22 rebounds for the Jumbos (28-3), with Baptista turning in a dominant effort — 14 points, 12 boards, 5 steals, and 4 blocked shots. Tufts shot only 32.3 percent from the floor but had 10 blocks and forced 18 turnovers.
The Jumbos, who are playing in their third straight Final Four but are seeking their first national title, will meet Thomas More in Monday’s final.
Amherst fell to Thomas More in the other semifinal, 74-65, ending the Purple & White’s season at 30-2.
