Chef Barbara Lynch’s memoir won’t be out for a few more weeks, but it’s already been optioned for TV.

Titled “Out of Line: A Life of Playing With Fire,’’ the book chronicles Lynch’s rags-to-ricotta story beginning with her tumultuous upbringing in Southie, one of seven children born to a beleaguered single mom. There’s drinking and drugs, an incident involving a stolen city bus, and sexual trauma. Lynch (at right) survived it all to become a multiple James Beard award winner whose culinary empire includes seven restaurants.

According to Publishers Lunch, “Out of Line,’’ published by Atria, has been optioned by Giada De Laurentiis at Linguine Pictures. De Laurentiis, the granddaughter of legendary film producer Dino De Laurentiis, is a chef, writer, TV personality, and the host of the Food Network program “Giada at Home.’’

In his blurb for Lynch’s book, celebrated chef Eric Ripert, of the New York restaurant Le Bernardin, says the memoir is a “funny but frank read’’ that “captures the fierce drive required to overcome challenges and triumph over adversities.’’
