LIVING HISTORY December will mark the 75th anniversary of America’s entrance into World War II. As time passes, there are fewer and fewer World War II veterans left to tell their stories, and most of those still living are now in their 90s. Firsthand accounts of the war are increasingly relegated to history books.

But even children who will never get to speak with a World War II soldier in person can come close when the 26th Infantry Yankee Division Living History Reenactors visit the Fort Devens Museum Saturday, Aug. 6.

Starting at 10 a.m., history buffs who have made a pastime out of replicating the days of World War II — complete with authentic lore, equipment, and artifacts — will be on hand to talk to visitors as they do informal demonstrations, drilling, and marching throughout the day. A more formal presentation will take place at 1 p.m., when members of the group will talk about the 26th Infantry Yankee Division and describe their own experiences as reenactors.

In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of Devens in a 2½-ton, vintage World War II truck. These tours will be held every hour between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Space is limited.

Admission to the museum is free; truck tours are $10 per person. The Fort Devens Museum is at 94 Jackson Road, Devens. For more information, call 978-772-1286 or go to www.fortdevensmuseum.org.

ON STAGE The Newton Theatre Company’s series of free outdoor performances of Aeschylus’s “Agamemnon’’ continues on Aug. 6 and 7, with the latter production taking place on the Theater Steps of City Hall, set against the backdrop of its Greek-inspired columns. “Agamemnon’’ relays the 1,000-year-old story of the aftermath of the Trojan War told through Clytemnestra’s eyes. Ten years have passed since Agamemnon sacrificed his oldest daughter in order to appease the gods and let the Greek army sail to Troy. And for 10 years Agamemnon’s wife, Clytemnestra, has sat at home in Argos, waiting for the day her husband will return from the war so she can exact revenge. Performances are Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hyde Playground Bandshell, Newton Highlands (rain location in the Newton Highlands Community Center); and Sunday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. on the Theater Steps of Newton City Hall (rain location inside the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall).
