World record-holder Christian Coleman of the United States added to his growing list of achievements Saturday, winning the men’s 60 meters in a record 6.37 seconds at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham, England. Coleman smashed Maurice Greene’s 20-year-old world record last month by clocking 6.34. Coleman, who turns 22 on Tuesday, never looked in danger as he beat Su Bingtian of China by 0.05 seconds and American teammate Ronnie Baker by 0.07. American Kendra Harrison set a world indoor mark in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 7.70 seconds to hold off compatriot Christina Manning (7.79). American pole vaulter Sandi Morris set the world indoors record with her third attempt at 16 feet 2.9 inches.

Samuelson is AAC’s top player
UConn women’s basketball forward Katie Lou Samuelson was named the American Athletic Conference player of the year for the second straight year. The junior helped the Huskies (29-0, 16-0) to their fifth straight regular-season league title by averaging 18.3 points and leads the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (49.0).

Hurd, Moldauer capture gold
Americans Morgan Hurd and Yul Moldauer won all-around gold medals at the American Cup in Hoffman Estates, Ill., the first major international competition of 2018. Hurd, a 16-year-old from Middletown, Del., outscored runner-up Mai Murakami of Japan, 56.599-55.633. The 21-year-old Moldauer, the reigning national champion from Norman, Okla., took the men’s all-around (85.964 points) while placing in the top three in all six events to beat Great Britain’s James Hall.

Dygert sets cycling record
American Chloe Dygert set the women's individual pursuit world record twice in winning at the world track cycling championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Dygert, 21, lowered the individual record time by two seconds in qualifying. Then in the final, Dygert took the record down by 0.012 seconds to 3:20.06 . . . According to multiple reports, Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry has told the team he will sign the franchise tag, which will pay him approximately $16.2 million next season . . . Two people familiar with the situation, speaking on condition of anonymity, say the New Orleans Saints and free agent safety Kurt Coleman have agreed to terms of a three-year deal . . .
