Former Celtic Delonte West says he’s OK

Earlier this year, photos of Delonte West surfaced online that appeared to show the former Celtics guard struggling with the same problems that plagued him during his NBA career. The former St. Joe’s star whom the C’s drafted in the first round in 2004 was photographed outside a Jack in the Box in Houston wearing no shoes and what appeared to be a hospital gown and a flannel shirt. It was worrisome because West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008.

This week, someone tweeted a picture of West carrying a cardboard sign on the side of the road in Maryland. (The tweet has since been deleted.) But West says he’s fine. In a statement to Media TakeOut, the former NBA star said: “I was helping a homeless man in my neighborhood that’s paralyzed from neck down. I parked my car and got out to help because it was 90 degree weather and I was feeling blessed at the moment for just having legs.’’
