The article“Feisty Sanders puts Clinton team in a balancing act’’ (Page A1, May 23) describes Bernie Sanders as “defiant.’’

Senator Sanders has been working for justice and fairness for many years as a legislator and now as a candidate. He is opposing ideas that are undemocratic in the election process. Many of us who want to live in a true democracy hope the reforms he is calling for in the Democratic Party take hold.

Calling him persistent, or tireless, or even determined would be a much fairer description than defiant, which trivializes his message.
