A jogger may happily take the two flights of oaken stairs to reach this new-construction condo, but for those not so inclined, there is an elevator. Either route, the arrival point is the same: the unit itself — and the first view of this home that occupies the third floor of a four-story building in Brookline Village.
A few words about the building: The rear exterior wall is not straight, but shaped more like two cresting waves, a design that creates sharp angles used dramatically in corner windows throughout the unit.
There is an open floor plan, of course, but it’s not something confined to a boxy rectangle. Instead, the living room, kitchen, and dining area work together like a turn in a river, with the living room at its post upstream. The focal point of the living room is a gas fireplace that is framed by ceramic tiles of a light-toned barn-wood finish and has space above for a large-screen television.
The room flows into the kitchen, which is white, the color of the sunlight flowing in through two large windows above the wide sink. The appliances, including a six-burner gas oven, are stainless and high end. A breakfast island holds seating for three, cabinetry, and a microwave oven, and it is topped by white marble. A subway-tile glass backsplash nestled between gray quartz countertops and shiny, white European-style cabinets adds to the seemingly ever-present brightness of the area. Under-the-cabinet lighting shows the way after the sun sets.
The dining area, found off the kitchen, features a set of those corner windows.
A short hallway passes the laundry room and a rear stairwell before reaching the master suite. At nearly 400 square feet, the bedroom is bracketed between two sets of corner windows. From the bed, the view is of three white doors in a straight line: The entry, the walk-in closet, and the master bath. The bath offers a double vanity with a marble counter, a multi-head steam shower, and flooring with radiant heat.
The condo’s two other bedrooms are at the opposite end of the unit. One bedroom, the largest by only a small margin, has those stylish corner windows. The second — now staged as an office — has glass doors and two windows. The bedrooms share a full bath that features a ripple-textured tile in the shower.
The flooring throughout the unit is an oak stained gray, and the layout includes 30 recessed LED lights. The home is prewired for smart devices and a sound system, and it has an intercom.
The building has three units, but only this home and the one on the second floor have access to a fenced-in stone patio. This unit also includes two parking spots — one covered.
The property is a short walk to Boylston Street Playground and Brookline Hills Station on the Green Line, which runs behind the property. During my visit, there was no noise disturbance as the subway cars passed.
