Politics is great theater, so why wouldn’t Mayor Martin J. Walsh team up with the cast of a wildly popular musical?

Walsh will join the cast of the “Hamilton’’ tour, which is currently playing in Boston, in Roxbury Saturday to spread the word about early voting in the cradle of the American Revolution.

The mayor and the cast will be on hand in the first-floor lobby of the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building at 11 a.m. to encourage residents to hit the polls early, his office said in a statement.

“Early voting adds important flexibility and convenience for voters by giving people the opportunity to get to the polls before Election Day,’’ the release said. “Early voting in Boston began on Monday, October 22 and runs through Friday, November 2, giving residents the opportunity to cast their votes ahead of the November 6 state election. Any voter registered in Boston can cast their ballot early at any early voting location.’’

The touring production of “Hamilton,’’ the Tony Award-winning show chronicling the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the nation’s most colorful Founding Fathers, opened last month at the Boston Opera House and runs through Nov. 18.

Globe theater critic Don Aucoin gave the show rave reviews, writing that “one marvels at the sheer scope of ‘Hamilton,’ how much story [creator Lin-Manuel] Miranda packs into it, how he generates an onrushing, near-Dickensian narrative momentum even as he frequently shifts moods and tones (and occasionally stumbles with a wince-inducing rhyme). Yes, one is struck anew by how many indelible, character-illuminating songs Miranda has composed and how wide a range of idioms his musical palette encompasses.’’
