Hats off to Mr. and Mrs. Fine (at right), who stole the spotlight this week. It started on Monday, when Gail Fine was honored by the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce for her leadership as the executive director of the Ellie Fund, a nonprofit that provides support services for breast cancer patients.

Two days later, her husband received an award for his work at WCVB-TV Channel 5.

Bill Fine, who serves as the president and GM of the station, was named 2016 Broadcaster of the Year by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association. The award was presented to him Wednesday at the association’s awards night at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Candy O’Terry emceed the event, WBZ-TV political analyst Jon Keller delivered the keynote address, and WCVB took home several other honors, including “Station of the Year,’’ a merit award for public service, and first place awards for news, promotion, and programming.
