Openings: Boston Chops opens in Downtown Crossing this week (52 Temple Place at Washington Street). It’s the swanky steakhouse’s second location; the South End original opened in 2013.
This version has a $10,000 Instagram table with movable lights and adjustable color temperature settings, so charge up your smartphone before arriving.
“Social media is a big part of the dining scene today, and we didn’t have to think about it when we opened Boston Chops South End five years ago. Now, it is imperative that photos of restaurant interior and food are beautiful when they are posted online by influencers. It is a great marketing tool for people to see our food, décor, and cocktails, and hopefully entice them to check it out for themselves,’’ chef-owner Chris Coombs said in a release.
Crop and filter dishes like a 20-ounce Chateaubriand, oxtail croquettes, and pork belly macaroni and cheese.
In Allston, Kimchipapi Kitchen (81 Harvard Ave. at Gardner Street) opens, slinging signature “glory bowls’’ with Japanese and Korean flavors — choose a protein and a sauce, and top as you wish.
Long Goodbyes: Watertown’s lovable Strip T’s closes for good in a few weeks, and they served their final dinner this weekend. (93 School St. at Laurel Street) They’ll continue to serve lunch through June with a smaller menu.
Relocations: Legal Sea Foods moves its flagship Chestnut Hill location (43 Boylston St.) to The Street shopping area (55 Boylston St.) this week. The original Chestnut Hill branch opened in 1975. There’s a first-floor fish market, a second-floor restaurant overlooking Hammond Pond, and a bar area with a retractable roof.
Closings: Michael Schlow closed Park Square’s Doretta Taverna and Raw Bar on May 29, according to a statement from the noted chef (79 Park Plaza). He’s cooked at the Heritage on the Garden space for 15 years: Before opening the Greek restaurant in 2015, he ran Via Matta. Schlow closed his flagship Boston restaurant, Radius, in 2013. It’s not all bad news: Latin American spot Tico in the Back Bay lives on, as do various locations of Alta Strada, specializing in Italian food.Kara Baskin
