Westgate Mall’s new tenant, Staples, opened recently in the space formerly occupied by Modell’s Sporting Goods. The mall, at 200 Westgate Drive, Brockton, also recently added a Comcast Xfinity store and will open a Chipotle next month.
The Holiday Inn Foxboro-Mansfield recently completed its $4.5 million renovations, which include a revamped main lobby, guest rooms, and a new restaurant, Bristol Grill. The hotel is at 31 Hampshire St. in Mansfield.
True North Kitchen & Bar has opened in the former Kelly’s Landing space in Weymouth. The 90-seat American-style restaurant, at 159 Bridge St., serves such dishes as chicken parm, steak, and shrimp scampi. The family restaurant is operated by Janet and Joe Campbell, who have owned four restaurants in Cohasset.
Scituate residents recently celebrated the addition of the new Seaside Fun playground at 15 Henry Turner Bailey Road, with the sixth annual Fall for Scituate festival. In early 2014, the playground, already in disrepair, was displaced from 606 Chief Justice Cushing Highway because of the construction of the town’s new middle school and had to be relocated, said recreation director Maura Glancy. The project is expected to cost at least $300,000, she said.
Father Bill’s & MainSpring hosted a job fair on Oct. 26 at The Lantana in Randolph, where representatives of 30 companies met with more than 175 job seekers. The nonprofit’s chief executive, John Yazwinski, said that many of the participants face obstacles like “transportation, affordable child care, job skills, or health problems,’’ but that they are eager to find work.
