The beautiful weather and fabulous fireworks display highlighted our Home Days last weekend. It is always a pleasure spending time with our residents. A special thanks to all of our firework sponsors for their continued generosity.

Another community event coming up Sept. 22 is Harvest Fest. This event features a variety of craft vendors. There are also numerous food choices from our service clubs and food trucks. I will be there with Mayor Stefanik to serve our famous fried bologna sandwich. Take some time to stop by, say hello, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. This event is located on the City Green from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The month of September also means back to business. Council will resume all committee and Council meetings.

I will take some time to update you on some current projects:

Route 82 Widening – sidewalks and drive aprons are currently being installed along the northern portion of this section. The entire section (north and south) is planned to be completed by Labor Day or shortly after.

Royalton Road Resurfacing – Phase 1 is underway with the intermediate course of asphalt installed. Catch basin, manhole and valve box adjustments in the pavement are underway. New curbs are being installed where needed on the western portion of the project.

Albion Road Resurfacing – Work between York Road and Ridge Road is complete with minor restoration work being performed. The portion between W. 130th Street and York Road will take place after Labor Day. Columbia Gas Betterment

Project on Ridge Road – Mainline gas installation is complete in the roadway. Project completion is ahead of schedule and should be completed by Labor Day. Minor restoration of seeding may occur after that.

Royalton Road Watermain Replacement – Work has been delayed by Cleveland Water to test and chlorinate the new watermain. Work will resume once we receive word from Cleveland Water that the main has passed the necessary tests.

State Road Water Replacement – Mainline construction is underway. The contractor is currently south of Bunker Road replacing the watermain. Traffic delays have been reported and these issues have been discussed with the contractor to correct.

State Road Sidewalk Improvement (City Hall north to Trumpeter) – This project will begin shortly, as we await an updated schedule from ODOT and the contractor, with a completion date of mid-October.

Thank you for your patience during this busy construction season.
